DJ classes (technical)
15
I will teach you how to become a DJ.
First of all, I'll teach you some basic music structure, it's essential to developing beatmatching skills. You'll learn to deduce where the beat drops before it happens :)
Then I'll teach you how to actually play one track after another (or several at the same time) seamlessly. I work with CD players btw (I have hundreds of CDs), but I can teach you on anything you have, from software (Traktor, Mixxx, Serato...) to vinyl (I have a modest record collection, but no turntables).
Once the technical aspects of beathmatching are covered, we'll go over music genres, and how to develop your personal DJing style.
There are several types of DJs: performance, bars, radio, clubs, special events... and each requires various degrees of dedication and preparation.
Finally, practice, practice, practice.
Training & Qualifications
I've been a DJ for about 12 years, worked a bit in clubs and bars, then moved on to the underground community in raves and more artistic events.
I was part of the Esprit Frit radio show in Montreal for 2 years out of its 7 years life span.
I am still part of the Montreal based Found in the AM duo, fully analog live acts, and part of the Tonewerk DJ family.
