I will listen and watch you present your speech (with or without a slideshow or visual aids). This can be for work, school, or even if you are wanting to tell someone something hard or potentially delicate and just need a sounding board.
I can listen for clarity, effectiveness, and whether your speech is meeting the goals you, your boss, or your instructor have set for you.
This 30 minute time-slot will include you giving your presentation and then leave time for me to provide feedback. We can either do this live (e.g. via Skype) or you can send a video that I will watch and then write feedback for.
If there are specific goals (such as a grading rubric or an assignment from your boss) please provide that as well so that our time together can be as fruitful as possible!
Training & Qualifications
I am a trained instructor. I first began my training in the teaching field while I was at a community college. I was hired as a writing consultant and trained in assisting college and high school students with their essays, presentations, and other assignments, as well as with students' college applications. I worked in high school classrooms, one-on-one, and in ESL classrooms.
I was then fortunate enough to transfer to UCLA, get my bachelor's degree, and then was accepted into a master's program at UCLA. I began working as a Teaching Assistant (TA) which meant that every week, I led labs and classes in a variety of topics ranging from communications to biology and ecology. I was then chosen to work as a Teaching Assistant Consultant where I worked with two UCLA professors in training new TAs. Through this class, I learned the most cutting-edge instructional techniques.
All of these opportunities and roles have allowed me to become a better reader, writer, listener, and teacher.
