First, let me say, I love working with kids, as I am an artist that loves to Express in different creative ways. I am very well aware of the fact that children do not get so much opportunity to explore their playful nature in school. Expanding and expressing their imagination is usually limited down, in order for them to be quiet and obey, as they need to memorize unnecessary details, instead of expressing their uniqueness. But what does truly matter at the end, in our day to day lives? To close yourself in and forget about your inner wonders, accepting limited beliefs and structures of other people/society, or allowing ourselves to remain open and compassionate in a system that is obviously not made for sensitive and soulful beings.
I say, let's play and forget about what it should be, let's play for the pure joy of being our own unique selves...
Feels like just a while ago, I was still in school, feeling like there's something wrong with the teachings I had to stuff in my head, filling up my mind instead of my heart. I am 22 years old and I am one of those people who remembered, that we are not here to become depressed/serious adults that work hard and struggle with life, and realised that our experiences can be much more passionate and our being can be much more free than what they make us believe in school/society.
Because I was tought to think that I am not perfect the way I am, I should fit in and change in order to be accepted and loved, I had depression myself as well and I know how much it is worth for children to be seen and truly appreciated and celebrated just the way they are. So they become aware, that there is nothing wrong with them and they can keep on playing, even in their 20s, 50s or 80s... <3
P.s. What we do in a 45min session : talk, get to know eachother, and discover/create ways to Express and Experience oneself (through acting, painting, drawing, writing, singing, dancing - whatever feels good for them). I invite them to join me in our playful creativity and make something sweet, learn or write a new song, paint something etc.
I do not accept orders from parents, saying what they want children to do here, I only listen to the voice of a child, sharing their own free passion of being.
