I teach private and group lessons on drums and mallet percussion (vibraphone/marimba) in a variety of styles including Jazz, Latin rhythms, Funk, and also teach improvisation for both instruments. I am happy to work with people who play any instrument with their basic musicality, improvisation, sight reading, or even music theory.
Training & Qualifications
I'm a professional Jazz Musician in the San Francisco Bay Area (based in Oakland), and I am currently in my last year of the Bachelor's program at the California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley. I won 1st place in the 2014 Jazz Search West competition on vibraphone, and play in several projects with the top musicians in the Bay Area. I have performed at places like Yoshi's, The Freight and Salvage, and the DeYoung Museum, and recorded several times at Fantasy Studios. I have been teaching privately for the last 6 years and I continue to do so at JAMS Music in Dublin, and Music Village in San Jose, as well as Musically Minded Academy in Rockridge, Oakland.
Availability & Preferences
I have a practice studio in West Oakland and it would be ideal for me to meet there. I have drums, vibes, marimba, piano, PA, and everything else we need for lessons.
