I will personally handcraft a song for you, either for yourself, or to give to another as a funny gift, or outpouring of your soul :) I can give you it as an audio file, a simple YouTube video, or even perform it for you virtually over Skype.
It could be a serenade about ducks, an angsty venting to the person that rejected you, a beautiful ballad to your soulmate, or perhaps even just an intricate instrumental, so feel free to give as descriptive instructions as possible - a topic, theme, mood, if it's addressing someone, lyrics if you have any, etc. - and I will put it together with guitar, piano, or other instruments depending on what kind of song we're going for!
I'd play it in my own Derek-genre, which is kind of singer-songwriter-ish. There's a weird variety of influences: Phoenix, Jack Johnson, Flight of the Conchords, Streetlight Manifesto, Walk The Moon, The Killers, and of course, Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco. If you desire the song to be in a specific genre, please give me a song to model off of since your genre may not be one I'm experienced with writing in, so give me extra time as well for me to familiarize and polish it.
You can also just leave it as open ended as you like and leave it to my interpretation, but then it'll for sure be in my own style!
Training & Qualifications
Let's make it clear that I'm a total amateur, but I've had piano lessons over the course of ten years in my youth, and I've been singing since I was born, so I have definitely played and performed quite a lot, and I have also been practicing songwriting for the past several years, although mostly with Pop, Rock, and Punk.
Availability & Preferences
I'm free on weekends, but weeknights could work, too, if given a heads up. At least a week of time would be nice depending on the complexity of the project. If it's simple, then perhaps 1-3 days.
