Old Germanic Alliterative Poetry
30
I will create Allitervate Verse Poetry in English. Specifically I will follow Old Germanic/Norse form known as Fornyrðislag. Here is an example:
Dark Dwells, Dire hope
A bitter brew, made to choke,
Heavy hangs the hangman’s rope
We all fall limp at a careless stroke.
or
The Wind whirrs chill, on the weepy morn
Golden leaves glisten, glued to wet earth.
Winter yet abides, autumn’s short reign.
Life lingers to a halt, limp and beleaguered.
