Weird Words! Gobsmack Your Druts

I will give you 3 weird, obscure, archaic, dialectical, or other words you don't know that you can drop at parties, use to flatter or insult, or otherwise grig, moider, or tressilate your druts.
For specific synonyms or situations, I'll do my best, but I'll probably offer only 1 researched word (unless it's easy). These things take a lot of research!

Training & Qualifications

I have been posting weird words on a whiteboard in my front window for 17 years.
When I should be getting stuff done, I research the Oxford English Dictionary Online and numerous other websites and books to fulfill this perversion. My neighbors threaten to lynch me if I don't put a word out for a while.

About Cindy R

For 30 years I’ve written and edited scientific, high-tech, travel, and news publications as well as fiction. I’ve worked on websites, books, newspapers, and business materials (such as press releases...). I also tutor writing and academics, teach gardening and composting, train urban bicycling skills (League of American Bicyclists certified), and spend a gobsmacking amount of time collecting weird words. It’s enough to make you absquatulate! In addition to my master's in environmental horticulture (plants, ecological sustainability, restoration, and noxious invasive weeds), I have a bachelor’s in communications and am trained in numerous avocations. I was a Master Gardener for more than a decade and still give talks there; am still a Master Composter/Sustainability Steward with Tilth Alliance; studied flute with the principal flutist of the Metropolitan Opera; and taken classes in--egads!--everything from landscaping to kitchen-knife skills to sea kayaking to scuba diving. For fun, I'm into edible gardening (especially perennial edibles), knitting, my dog, bicycling, reading, and surfing the Oxford English Dictionary Online. Try me!
