Ask a linguist! Q and A Session
20
Do you have questions about how language works? Need tips and tricks for learning a new language? Want to know what linguists do, or how a linguist might contribute to your project?
Language is something that we all use everyday, but most people don't think about how amazingly complex it is. There are so many language myths circulating today, such as the idea that you can't learn a new language as an adult, or that some languages are more logical or proper than others. Unfortunately, books and articles about linguistics can be extremely dense and full of jargon, so scientific knowledge of language is inaccessible to most people who are interested. I would love the opportunity to present you with accurate information about languages and linguistics in a way that helps you understand.
You let me know in general what you'd like to ask about and we'll set up a Skype/Google Chat appointment. I will answer all your questions to the best of my ability during the appointment, and the appointment can last anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour!
