I am a Texan living in Hawaiʻi who likes to hike, talk, and muse. I'm currently working on my dissertation on landscape in the Hawaiian language, and training my puppy, Joxer. He's a rambunctious Husky/Chihuahua/Terrier mutt named for the comic relief in my favorite show, Xena: Warrior Princess. I love teaching and can't wait to finish my PhD and get back to it.
I've always been interested in language and the envoronment. After trying out a couple of different majors at Texas Tech University, I ended up getting a B.A. in geography with a creative writing minor. I then received a Master's in English with concentrations in linguistics and geography. This led me to realize that I needed to get a PhD in linguistics if I ever wanted to understand what linguists were talking about. So that's what I've been doing for the last four years.
