LDS/Mormon Q&A
Do you have any questions regarding the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA "the Mormon Church")? I am very happy to help you to learn about this wonderful religion.
Just like any religion, there is so much to this one: a peculiar history, unique doctrines, a stand-out structure, etc. We even boast the largest and oldest women's organization in the world: the Relief Society.
Just some juicy tidbits about my church and its history:
- We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. We believe them each to be three distinct Beings, rather than a three-in-one Trinity.
- We believe that families can be together forever, with marriage lasting for eternity.
- We have additional scriptures, some of which are a compilation known as the Book of Mormon (from which our nickname "Mormon Church" originated).
- Many members of the first generations of the Church were active Freemasons.
- Total church membership today includes 15,634, 199 members worldwide.
- That membership is divided into 30, 016 congregations.
- The Book of Mormon has been published in 188 languages.
Disclaimer: Although I am happy to teach about my religion, there are some things that I believe are too sacred to be discussed in such a mundane setting as simbi, Skype, etc. When such a topic is touched upon during conversation, I'll happily expound on general explanations, but will not delve into detail.
