Balcony Composting

20

20 per visit - - Posted Aug 28, 2016

I will show you how I compost all of my uncooked fruit/veggie scraps and eggshells on my eighth-floor, west-facing balcony without annoying my neighbors or roommate with the smell. Lesson will cover starting your compost and basic maintenance. I estimate it will take about an hour, and will take place on my balcony.

If you would like to create your own compost, bring a sealable plastic container (I use a 3 lb Tidy Cats cat litter container), enough cardboard to go once around the inside of the container, news or other non-shiny paper, and a tupperware of uncooked vegetable/fruit scraps and eggshells. If you have your sealable container but are missing some of the other materials, let me know and I can help you out.

Training & Qualifications

I started my balcony garden in May and have been composting on my balcony since about March. I grow vegetables on my balcony and keep succulents inside.
