Hi. I grew up in the suburbs east of Washington D.C., just outside the Beltway. Early in my life it was clear that drawing was going to be the focal point of my personality, followed closely by music and literature. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of enthusiasm for art around our nation's capital. So it wasn't until I left for New York City with a new company known as Broadcast Arts that things really started happening for me professionally as an artist. There I worked for a ground-breaking animation studio that became a well-known creative group in Manhattan and eventually most of the USA. As an animator, designer, storyboard artist, director and producer, I got to work on many commercials, interstitial programming, educational content, music videos, and even television programs. It was fun and exciting work and I met and collaborated with lots of other great creative people. After parting ways, I went freelance and enjoyed working with a variety of companies in advertising, publishing, film, and television.

While this was happening, I married a beautiful woman named Bonnie and had a great kid whom we named Cameron, and although I enjoyed freelancing, when I was offered a job with the Walt Disney Company, I accepted. We pulled up stakes and moved to the West coast and I became an Imagineer. Disney sent me to their theme parks in Anaheim, Orlando, and Paris, France to program their audio-animatronics rides. I don't know how long I would have worked with them if they hadn't had massive layoffs after finishing EuroDisney. As it was, I had to find another employer and soon found myself in the gaming industry at Atari/Time-Warner in Silicon Valley. But the game companies were extremely competitive and Bonnie and I could see the writing on the wall, so when I was offered a staff position at WaRP Graphics in Poughkeepsie, New York, we jumped on it and drove ourselves back to the Eastern Seaboard in a 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX and a 25-foot U-Haul moving van. There I was the main pencil artist on several of WaRP's Elfquest series of comics, as well as acting as an art director/promoter. I won a "Squiddy" for best new penciler that year.

I've always loved comics, so I was happy doing that until the industry collapsed in the early 90's. Once again, I had to find work. After a brief stint as storyboard artist/designer/3D CGI modeler and painter at Blue Sky Studios, I once again found myself freelancing and bouncing from job to job. I got to work with lots of great people on lots of exciting projects, and 'round about the year 1999 found a place at a company called Magnet Pictures in Manhattan. And what do you know...we won Emmies two years in a row for our design and animation of the Rosie O'Donnell Show! Then the studio was bought and eventually broken up by a dot-com startup company and I was out of a job. In a way it was a lucky thing for me. The building we worked in was next door to the World Trade Center and took damage in that catastrophe.

So I kept freelancing, and even took a job as a substitute mail carrier in the Shrub Oak Post Office when things got lean. The next big event was when I was hired to be the storyboard department supervisor of a new kid's show produced by Nickelodeon. It was called Lazytown and the studio that was filming it was in Reykjavik, Iceland! So I spent the next two years flying back and forth between Reykjavik and Putnam Valley, NY, and basically lived for a full year in that country. Bonnie and Cam and I took stock after that job ended and we realized that because of how easy it was to use the internet for work, that we no longer needed to be near NYC, or LA, or SF for me to find employment. So we decided to move back to our home state of Maryland, to be close to family and friends. So now I'm back, living in the suburbs east of Washington, D.C. Only with a whole lot of stories to tell.
