I will recommend the use of three music books for instruction to assign homework for you to practice until we meet again.
I will teach you:
How to read drum notation
To practice rudiments
Proper stick grip
To assemble a drum kit for proper form
How to tune a drum, or all your drums
How to count time signatures
To have foundational skills for the world of drumming that will allow you to reach your potential.
Training & Qualifications
I am almost entirely a self-taught drummer. Most of my learning occured while learning to play on the stage with an audience - freestyle, as one may say. And later on I went to get lessons to improve the areas of my talents where I had lacked the awareness of needing improvement. I have confidence in teaching introductory and novice skills for drum practice and performance. I had lessons years ago with a teacher that pointed me to the source of how to get myself to improve on complexity and proper form. Swing and Jazz drumming is currently my weakness, so if you are looking for that, I can point you to the proper places to advance in that area of drumming.
