I am a nationally-certified speech-language pathologist (master's degree) with a bachelor's degree in Spanish. I have lived abroad in Spain and Ecuador and love to travel. When I first stayed with a family in Spain, I was 15 years old and I fell in love with the culture. To this day I love tapas, cafe con leche, Spanish wine, and eating grapes on New Year's Eve. I am an amateur photographer with 8 years of experience who enjoys cooking at home, reading, yoga, Argentine tango, and gentle parenting. I recently had a baby (May 2016) and when I'm not with my daughter I currently work part-time as a preschool speech therapist. I also have experience working with stroke and TBI survivors. I believe in the power of volunteering in our communities. I am a former volunteer with Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp and 11th Hour Volunteer with The Denver Hospice. Since relocating, I am now a volunteer with the Cooking Matters program in southeast Michigan, which provides cooking and nutrition education to low-income families. At home I have two dogs, a noisy pomeranian and an antisocial chihuahua. My awesome husband works in hospitality and taught me everything I know about Italian wine and sushi. I'm an introvert, a feminist, and a fan of Harry Potter. If I could invite anyone to a dinner party, it would be Shankar Vedantam or Amanda Palmer. I have a black thumb and plants shrivel near instantaneously in my care, a fact that truly embarrasses me.
