Want to know everything there is to know about a pressing global issue? Curious about a terrorist you've seen on the news, or seeking context on a developing scandal? Want to know why you're seeing such bad stuff on the news all the time?
I have a degree in political studies, focusing primarily on International Relations and National Security topics. I have spent the last three years using open sources to study a high threat terrorist group, and have worked as a research intern at a defence think tank. And I'm bored. OH so bored.
Give me a *specific* topic of your choosing relating to world politics or current affairs and I will find you everything you need to know on that issue. This will include: collecting and exploiting news articles on the topic and government/NGO publications, a review of some academic literature, social media, SATINT exploitation using google earth, and use of OSINT exploitation software.
I will use this to prepare a quick briefing note for you (3-7 pages) on the topic, and will hold a short Q&A session for you via chat (15-20 min). If you are local, I will prepare a presentation on the topic for you and present it in person.
If I have fun completing your assignment, I will also send you a picture of one of my parent's cats.
PLEASE NOTE that I am not well versed in everything ever, and if an area is obscure and super new to me I may not give you the superb result I would like to. As part of our contract I will inform you whether or not the topic you want to know about is something I feel comfortable with. If you still wish to continue, I will add a quarter time free of charge so I can make more effort to give you the high quality of service you deserve.

I have previously worked as a research intern at a defense think tank and have spent the last three years doing open source intelligence research on terrorist groups. I'm a curious person who loves finding information, and have previously volunteered to help local business gain information they need.
Availability & Preferences
Everyday, usually late morning and afternoon. I may ask to split the twelve hours out over a few days. I also may add pro-bono hours if the topic is interesting.
