About Sam Inglis
I am a highly driven science communicator, project manager, geoscientist, researcher & editor, with a specialist expertise in glacial hazards & transboundary water resources.
I am a passionate advocate for change, most recently spending September-November 2015 crossing France, Switzerland & Italy on foot to engage communities & raise awareness about the impacts of climate change. The 1500km journey - the People's Pilgrimage - was led by Philippine former Chief Climate Negotiator Naderev "Yeb" Saño.
Additionally, I coordinated the 'People's Climate March Hong Kong' in 2014, and marshalled the 'People's Pilgrimage HK' in 2015. I am one of the founders & steering committee members of the 'HK Interfaith Climate Network', & am among the original members of the 'HK Climate Action Communications Network'.
In 2014, alongside entrepreneur Christopher Schrader, I revived the 'Youth Endurance Network'. Our remit was to inspire youths to contribute to causes greater than themselves. As Operations Manager, I oversaw daily operations, from sponsorship negotiations, to media engagement, to recruitment & training of the expedition team. As Expedition Manager, I joined the team in setting the record as youngest team to conquer the 18,300ft Parangla Pass in the Indian Himalayas.
In 2014-2015, I was Project Manager & Managing Editor at 'Odyssey Books & Guides', overseeing Public-Private Partnerships in Myanmar. I assessed potential sustainable practices that may be adopted in the Myanmar capital - Nay Pyi Taw - seeking to nurture green practices, especially within the tourism sector. I also oversaw management & editorial for two of Odyssey's books.
My editorial credits also extend to environmental research for the World Green Organisation (HK), & as a researcher for The Mountain Institute (USA) & Greenpeace (HK).
Specialities: project & operations management, research, editorial, problem solving, science communication, hazard management, & climate science.
