25

25 per session - Virtual OK - Posted Nov 01, 2016

I will show you the chain maille technique of knitting a European 4 in 1 chain and sheet. This is one of the basic chain maille techniques and is a great starting point for anyone wanting to begin making chain maille. I will go over the tools and materials needed, places you can obtain the tools and materials needed, as well as go step by step through the process of knitting the metal links together to create a European 4 in 1 chain, I will then show you how to expand that into a sheet of European 4 in 1. This is a great technique to learn for anyone who is interested in making a chain maille shirt at any point.

About Rachel Sampson

I am a crafter who has collected a lot of hobbies, because of this I have many skills to share. Some of my hobbies include: *Jewelry making: Usually semi precious bead, beads made of natural material...s (bone, porcupine quills, etc), I make necklaces, earrings and bracelets. *Chain Maille: I have been knitting chain maille for about 15 years now, I know most of the basic weaves such as European 4 in 1, Half Persian, Full Persian, Byzantine Birdcage, Box weave, Round weave, as well as some variations. I also do scale work. I mostly make necklaces and bracelets, but have made dice bags as well as wallet chains. *Sewing: I have been sewing for about 5 years now and I love it! I can make pretty much anything I have a pattern for. I would like to get into costume sewing, but have not tried it yet. *Book Binding: I have been making hand bound leather books for about 17 years now, these books are not professional printed type books but rather simple journal and hand sewn books. There is something unique and beautiful about a handmade book. *Writing: I have been writing for quite a long time. I have been a member and founder of a few writer's groups and can give tips and critiques on poetry of all forms as well as short stories. I also have a Bachelor's in English and can do a little editing/proofreading. As far as my professional abilities go, I have worked as an office worker for much of my life. I am a good typist and have experience with quite a few things. Data Entry: I have done some data entry in my professional life. Receptionist/Admin Assistant: This was one of my main roles in quite a few of my jobs. Business Recovery Specialist: I put together the plan that would help my business get back to business as usual if there was a disaster. Some things I would like to learn or get better at: Wood burning: I have purchased a wood burning kit and have tried a few things but I would like to learn more techniques. Wood turning: I have never tried wood turning but I would love to learn and add it to my skills. Crochet: I know how to crochet and have made a few things, but I haven't done it in years and have forgotten a lot. I would love some refresher tips. Knitting: I have tried to learn how to knit before, but the information never stuck. This is something I would love to learn to do. Metal Clay work: I have seen some really neat pieces made with metal clay and would love to learn what I would need and some techniques for working with it. show more
