We'll get connected via video chat and get started!
In our 20 to 30 minute lesson, I will:
- go over how to tune
- teach the finger positioning and strumming for several basic chords (ie. A, Am, A7, C, D, Dm, D7, E, Em, E7, G, G7)
- discuss the definitions of playing terminology: frets, string numbers, finger numbers, pegs, etc.
- share a collection of worksheets that show finger positioning and strumming for each of the chords that we learn
- create a document with some songs that you can continue to practice
- provide you with tips on how to better your sound and strengthen your hands for playing (playing guitar for the first little while hurts more than most people know!)
The session can, of course, be altered depending on what you would like to learn. Don't be afraid to ask about ways we can personalize it a little more!
Training & Qualifications
I have been learning guitar for over a year. I started by taking classes at my community centre, where I learned and strengthened many of the skills I hope to share with you. Since then, I've been working on developing the skills on my own, and have begun teaching my first student via Skype.
