Sociological Concepts and Theory
10
If you are interested in learning more about social institutions, or different ways of thinking about the environment, race and gender, sociological theories such as conflict theory and ecofeminism, then I am here to teach you what I know as a Environmental Sociologist. It would be like taking a college course, without the homework and exams. It would be designed to help the individual think of their surroundings differently using various texts and articles to expand on these ideas. Topics would be chosen by the individual seeking the knowledge, and I will act as the guide to resources and understanding from a different or possibly similar perspective. This also gives the person an opportunity to discuss and dissect personal problems and public issues that are troubling and overwhelming to them. The environment would be one of discussion, learning, and expansion of ideas and concepts. Not everyone has the time, money, or resources to take a General Sociology course, or a course on Race and Ethnic Relations or Gender and Environmental Inequality, and the like. Also, many individuals do not have someone to discuss these concepts with that are truly passionate about these subjects.
