I'll help you understand the ins and outs of autism spectrum disorders from the point of view of an autistic adult. From why autistics sometimes harm themselves or lash out, to what exactly the benefits of special interests (and obsessive behaviors) are. Why autistics don't like Autism Speaks, and alternative charities to support if you or a loved one have been diagnosed with autism. Also, the GOOD things about autism spectrum disorders, whether the autistic is verbal or nonverbal.
Training & Qualifications
I am autistic, I was diagnosed at the age of twelve. Additionally half my family is on the spectrum, and I work with over a hundred kids each summer who fall on the spectrum, including multiple nonverbal autistics. I am active in the autistic community and have helped start blogs dedicated to the subject of autism acceptance.
