Bicycle Repair & Maintenance

25

25 per hour - - Posted May 03, 2017

I will service your bicycle, regardless of the sort of bike you have: commuter/fixie, road, mountain, hybrid, et cetera. I can do repair or parts replacement, and maintenance (e.g. brake adjustment, derailleur adjustment, bottom bracket cleaning, wheel trueing, et cetera). I'm willing to travel if you'd like me to come to you (so long as you're reasonably local, i.e. in the New York City area), but if you'd prefer to drop off and pick up your steed at my residence, that's alright, too. If you have a bike in need of extensive work, or if you simply don't know what's wrong with your bike and would like someone knowledgeable to diagnose and remedy its ailments, I'm willing to negotiate more involved projects. I have my own tools for most fixes, but I personally don't own any highly specialized tools for more complex fixes. I cannot provide parts if you need something replaced, but I'm more than capable of providing labor. Most fixes can be done in an hour or less.

Training & Qualifications

I am a bicycle mechanic of three years who has worked extensively with mountain bikes, but as a city-based bicycle commuter myself, I work frequently on my own bike, which is a touring/mountain hybrid.

Availability & Preferences

I'm usually free on weekends.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

About Joseph Schneider

I'm a college student in Queens, New York, but I'm Southern California born and bred. I'm studying English, and Rhetoric and Public Address, and plan to pursue a career as an editor, ideally for any o...f the major publishing houses in the New York area. I work as a math and english composition tutor to supplement my academic expenses. When it comes to hobbies, I'm a Boy Scout with an inclination for the outdoors: surfing, camping, cycling, hiking, climbing, and trekking to name a few. I also grew-up in a musical household and have a history with a variety of instruments, but there's few I'd be so bold as to say I actually know how to play - namely, the violin and the organ. I can make good sounds come out of a guitar or a bass, but I'd hardly call myself a guitarist or a bassist. For the past few years, I've worked seasonally at a BSA summer camp in the Sierra Nevada where I, amongst other things, work high adventure activities like climbing and trekking. I'm also trilingual with firm grasps of English (native) and German, and a developing grasp of Spanish. While I'm not at this time interested in learning a fourth language, I would love the opportunity to practice either of my foreign tongues. I aspire to continue language learning into my adulthood and would like to develop my linguistic capacity through foreign cultural immersion. Because of my status as an out-of-state student, my time is split between New York and my native Southern California.show more
