About Forrest Houghton

I am an A/V Technician at a liberal arts college in MA, in addition to a freelance live audio engineer. I have been in the live audio industry for over 8 years, working with churches, production compa...nies, and schools. I started off in my local church when I was 14 years old. Through that I started running sound for my high school as a student, and through that, that led me to volunteer job at a local Christian radio station. After a year or two of doing that, I got hooked up with an owner of a production company who came in to run sound for a band one night. After that, my career started taking off. We provided production for a lot of various bands including some well known Christian artists such as MercyMe, 33Miles, Ashes Remains, Josh Wilson, Brandon Heath, and Jeremy Camp. Last year I had a camp, that I grew up going to, ask me to run sound for them for the week of their camp meeting. Because I had a regular day job, and I had such good memories going to this camp I decided to provide my equipment and services to them for free. I had a blast that whole week, and it got me thinking why can't I do this more? So right now I am starting a production company (more of a ministry) that offers very little to no-cost production for special events that churches, camps, organizations, etc. would normally not have the funds for. In addition to providing production for special events, I am also looking into establishing a complete backup solution. What does this mean? Say a church a gets hit by lighting, and it fries a projector and the presentation computer needed before the next service. I would have a complete licensed ProPresenter rig and portable projector on backup ready to be deployed.show more
