About Debra McDermitt

My life had took me on many adventures with experiences that have taught me a number of things! I have a Masters Degree from the University of South Florida in Religious Studies. My areas of focus ...included Buddhism, Religion & Medicine (including Biomedical ethics), Life After Death, Native American Spirituality, Witchcraft & Paganism, as well as numerous other areas of comparative religion. I have been teaching Introduction to World Religions at local community colleges for over 7 years and have taught other classes as well both within and outside academia. In 1999 I became a FL licensed massage therapist offering neuromuscular/deep tissue, sweedish, relaxation, therapeutic touch and other modalities. In 2017 I am going into retirement in regards to giving of massages however I am continuing to share knowledge and help people with self-massage, research, and referrals. Additionally, in 1998 I first became Reiki Certified with Energy One by a Nurse/Reiki Master/Seneca Healer named Genie. Since 1998 between my ceu's as a massage therapist, my coursework at USF, classes by Accupunturist and Herbalist Bob Linde, and personal studies I have became adept to varying degrees with various divination practices, spiritual coaching, psychic scanning, meditation, mindfulness, remote healing, healing herbs, aromatherapy, and more. Beyond this I also have created websites in the past using html and php, though I now lack current knowledge of website design. Using photoshop and adobe premier is a new task I am learning but will be looking for feedback and advice with an eventual goal of a team member for a project I am working on now. I put together and hosted a Health and Wellness Expo with guest speakers and over 15 vendors. My hobbies include going to the mountains of NC, especially Cherokee where I once took an immersion course through WCU. On these trips I love white water rafting and hiking to waterfalls. Travel in general is a love and I have traveled across the US and Canada visiting and attending many Mind, Body, & Spirit places and events. show more
