Working as a University Career Coach, I am incredibly fortunate to be in my dream career of guiding students in exploring their dreams and forming connections with professionals in their fields, as well as, providing resources to allow them to pursue their passions.
As someone who changed majors and career aspirations during college, I believe it’s never too late to switch directions, explore new paths we encounter, and transfer the experiences we learned on previous tracks to ones we are headed towards.
In my role as a Career Coach, I provide career counseling/coaching, deliver workshops/presentations, develop relationships with employers, and coordinate opportunities for students to learn about companies/organizations through various events including treks, alumni panels, and career fairs. I also hire and train our student employees to review resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, and conduct mock interviews with their peers.
Additionally, much of my previous higher ed experience is in hiring, training, and supervising student staff, planning educational programs, as well as counseling college students experiencing mental health issues, advising sexual assault survivors, and being a first responder for students contemplating suicide or facing other crises. In other roles I supported international and study abroad students, organized community service-learners, and taught student interns. I developed a study abroad curriculum, taught leadership and diversity courses to Orientation and Residence Life Assistants, and taught English to elementary school children in South Korea.
Personally, I love exploring new places and planning new adventures. I have a knack for coordinating travel itineraries as well as proof-reading/editing documents. I love being in nature and can often be found riding my scooter, foraging, hiking, picnicking, geocaching, metal detecting, playing board games, videogaming, and visiting cafes.
When I'm not relaxing, I'm fighting for workers' rights and organizing for a socialist future because I believe everyone deserves safe housing, nutritious food, quality healthcare and education. I'm involved in the organization, Socialist Alternative. If you're interested in getting involved in a socialist organization, check out our revolutionary politics at SocialistAlternative.org! We have branches across the US and throughout the world, an elected city council seat in Seattle, and are constantly involved in movements alongside our activist siblings in solidarity fighting for a more equitable society.
