Acupuncture & Nutrition

75

75 per session - - Posted Oct 22, 2016

I am a doctor of acupuncture and eastern medicine, and I offer acupuncture, cupping, herbal consultations and nutritional counseling. My approach to nutrition is based in both eastern and western nutritional concepts that take into consideration each persons unique constitution. I coach all my patients including helping them figure out how to cook their own healthy meals no matter what their experience level is. Patients are provided with lists of foods that are good for them, easy to follow recipes, tips on how to score healthy and fresh foods even on a limited budget, and I can even go with you to the store to teach you how to pick the best foods, and how to figure out what to avoid. Acupuncture works for many common ailments, including pain, depression, insomnia, digestive issues like IBS, constipation, or inflammatory bowel disease. My office is in Mar Vista. Each session runs between 1 and 1.5 hours.

About Claudia Laufer

I'm a single mother of a 17-year-old boy, an avid gardener, cook, and baker. I love anything creative, and used to be a professional fine artist. I'm very much into building community, I feel that iso...lation and lack of meaningful social interactions is at the root of many diseases. My passion for natural medicine was sparked early on. I grew up in Germany, where natural medicine like herbal formulas and homeopathy were part of main stream medicine. It always fascinated me how many powerful medicinal herbs would grow as what we call weeds along the roadsides. When I had my own bout with Graves' disease, it was the integrative approach which included acupuncture, herbs, tai chi, dietary changes, and western meds that helped me get rid of it. My son, who has ADHD, does well on herbs, supplements, and occasional acupuncture so medications are not necessary. I'm currently working on developing a webinar series in which I can reach a larger audience to teach people how to take charge of their own health and well-being. Some of the topics planned will include eating with the seasons, healthy ways to get over a break-up, and cooking healthy on a budget. I love helping people figure out ways to cook their own meals with local and mostly organic ingredients, even if they don't have a kitchen or are on a strict budget. I also love camping and hiking and anything natural. Growing my own food and herbs, culinary as well as medicinal like comfrey or goji berries, is one of my favorite hobbies. In my ideal world, everything would be based on barter rather than the abstract concept of money. Hopefully, my dream of creating a healing arts eco Village will manifest soon. The first steps are already taken. show more
