Chat about climate change
35
Hello! Climate change is a big topic nowadays.
Is climate change real? What's the evidence? Is it due to human activity? What can we tangibly do about it? Should I eat less meat? Is it better to eat local from an emissions standpoint? How long do we have? Will renewable energy replace fossil fuels? Why are we still mining for fossil fuels? Are there advantages to climate change? Are we in a mass extinction?
I can appreciate how some people might feel hesitant in asking for information, or to chat about the topic. With information flying everywhere, it can be difficult to know what to trust. It also makes complete sense that there is a conflict of public opinion.
In my live sessions (zoom or text), I will offer some evidence for consideration. I aim to
- offer a non-judgmental environment, where concerns and questions can be addressed.
- focus on current evidence -- what it says and what it cannot/does not say.
- offer some tips for reading and understanding science
- have some fun! Learn about what your views are and what might support them
It's not my goal to confuse or change your opinion - although the information itself might do that.
** disclaimer: I am not an expert, I just have dedicated 4 years to learn from a top educational institution. So, I will be able to offer some ideas and data for consideration, but it might not be helpful for some who are more knowledgable.
Training & Qualifications
I have a Bachelor's in Earth System Science - a relatively new program designed to give a multidisciplinary understanding of factors that contribute to major current issues such as climate change, biodiversity, energy.
I've also worked at a phone helpline and am trained in active listening.
