45 Min. Monologue Coaching
70
Big audition coming up? Applying for grad school? Getting stuck on a monologue for a character you're playing? Want to know if a piece is right for you? Just want to brush up your acting skills? I'm happy to help!
I will provide you with a 45-minute coaching session to work on a monologue (or monologues) of your choice.
I am located in Washington, D.C., and am happy to provide this service in person if possible. Otherwise, I can coach via Skype, Google Hangouts, or any other video conferencing platform.
I'm a professional actor, educator, and dramaturg with many years of experience monologue coaching. My approach is highly individualized -- tailored to you, your working style, and the purpose of your monologue (audition, performance, etc.). My goal is to empower you to live fully in your monologue, not to tear you down. I ask a lot of questions and work to collaborate with you.
I will also allow you time to present your monologue(s) in a faux-audition setting, which will give you the confidence to go to your audition fully-prepared.
I work with both classical and contemporary texts and have a special focus/interest in Shakespeare.
If you're interested, please let me know:
- Which monologue(s) you're working on (please send the text for me to review, if possible)
- What you're using the monologue for (grad school, audition [tell me about the show!], etc.)
- Whether you'd like to work in-person (DMV local only) or virtually
- Is this time-sensitive (eg., is your audition next Thursday?)
- Anything else you'd like me to know
I can generally schedule sessions within 2 weeks of your request. Please note that I will need at least 1 day to review your material and prepare for our session -- I want you to get the most out of our work!
Training & Qualifications
I am a professional actor and dramaturg with many years of performance and educational experience.
I have studied theater at Shakespeare & Company, Brandeis University, the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, and the State Theater Arts Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia.
I have performed and participated in readings with companies such as Boston Theater Company, Shakespeare & Company, Tonic Theater, Naked Theater Co., Shakespeare Now!, and LiveArtDC.
Additionally, I am the Literary Director and Resident Dramaturg of Theatre Prometheus, a non-profit professional theater company based in Washington, D.C. As such, I have a great deal of experience preparing text and understanding the nuances of theatrical language. In my capacity as Resident Dramaturg, I attend all auditions, callbacks, and casting meetings, meaning I can give advice from both sides of the table.
Finally, I really, really love the theater, and helping others do this important work is one of my greatest joys.
Availability & Preferences
I'm usually free on weekends, weeknights, and the occasional Friday during the day. My performance/rehearsal schedule changes all the time, so please get in touch and we'll work out a time that works for both of us!
