About Barbara Shinaver
Professional musician and music educator.
Studied trombone performance and pedagogy privately with Rob Tapper, Joel Elias, Wayne Solomon, Dr Jon Brummel and Steve Trapani. Attended master's classes with Tom Ashworth, Tim HIggins, Gene Pokorny, Randy Hawes, Dr. Andrew Glendenning and Dr. John Neurohr. Attended the University of Redland's Pokorny Low Brass Seminar as a Performer in 2014.
Studied wind band conducting, and wind literature and repertoire with Dr. Gary P. Gilroy and Dr. James Smart. Pursued additional conducting studies with Patrick Winters of Eastern Washington University.
Worked as the Visual caption head for Sanger High School Marching Band and Bullard High School Marching Band.
Graduate Teaching Assistant in Band at the University of Montana. Director of Jazz IV and Combo VII, guest conductor with the Concert Band and Teaching Assistant with the Grizzly Marching Band under the direction of Dr. Kevin Griggs.
MusicFest Northwest Young Artist Brass Division Winner in 2014. Featured soloist with the Spokane Symphony.
