I take sweaters apart for yarn. If you have a sweater you want to get rid of, I'll take it! :) Especially useful if the seams aren't serged. (where there's thread wrapped around the seams.)
Bonus points if the yarn used is thick or has animal fibers - too fine a yarn (if it looks like thread) doesn't work well for this.
