Antony has spent much of his time using his Java background on large projects. A full day cutting code is cherished luxury Antony looks for in gaps between his day job guiding development teams through the more challenging areas of architectural change and evangelising agile and lean principles. Recently, Antony has been applying himself as the Senior Technical Architect at Piksel for clients including Liberty Global, Sky New Zealand, Discovery Channel, BSkyB, Walt Disney World, and LOVEFiLM.
Antony’s current role is for Liberty Global where he has found an opportunity to apply new Node.js skills building a reporting platform while working on a process transformation initiative on a global Set Top Box rollout programme. Prior to Liberty, Antony undertook an architectural review on site for for Sky New Zealand and worked with BSkyB on Sky’s Java based OTT platform (Sky Go + Now TV). Antony managed his own time between 5 teams and ~30 development staff to guide the architecture. Before Sky, Antony moved away from his media comfort zone and spent 18 months as a Data Architect for Walt Disney World building 2 schemas for a new guest identification system in the Florida parks. Antony’s other notable roles at Piksel were the Deployment Manager for SeeSaw TV and delivering the player for LOVEFiLM on demand.
During 3 years as an independent contractor Antony worked on the NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT) on the Spine project as a System Architect. Antony lead the design Sky’s premier online sales and customer account management services.
Since graduation from the University of Essex Antony has also found time to complete a Master’s Degree and travel around the world, run the family business and qualify as an electrician. His electrical skills are now constrained to fully rewiring his house in Leeds which he and his wife are jointly renovating inside and out.
