The results we have in learning languages tells how how effective we are in our learning. It IS NOT a statement about who we are. It IS a statement about the beliefs we may have and the tools we are u...sing! Clearly, language learning presents unique challenges that need to be mastered. However we all showed we could all learn our mother tongue, so what happens later that changes all that? Understanding how we all learned to master our first language (sometimes more than one!) and how we change as we grow up can transform what we believe we are capable of AND how we approach learning. So when the results we get from our efforts are less than what we expect then, rather than saying that "I am no good at learning languages", we can come to the understanding that the problem was how we went about learning (or were taught), NOT us. I am passionate about helping language learners come to this realisation, so that they are no longer limited by their beliefs or by what they do. Instead they become powerful learners able to achieve full proficiency in another language - if they decide to do what it takes. The difference once one knows what it takes and knows what to do is enormous.
