About Alejandro Velazquez

I'm getting settled into Austin, TX from Madison, WI and this summary is what I've poured myself into for the past couple of years. I've sharpened my teeth through sales and honed the patience needed ...to excel in customer service, but I'm ready for something that utilizes and expands upon my creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and values. I left my hometown of El Paso, TX in 2008 to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a full ride scholarship for five years. During two of my summers as a student I gained experience in direct sales and relocation through the Southwestern Experience. During school I also became one of the founding members of the student television org "Badger Television", as well as one of the producers for a show with my own crew and staff to manage. I worked extensively towards a TV and Media major but ended up graduating with a B.S. in Sociology. I began my work with the local music scene/industry during my last two years of school. One day I started a Facebook group called "We Make Music Happen" where I added my musician friends to help them network, and before I knew it the page blew up within the local music community. With the generous assistance of friends along the way, I utilized the page's network to begin booking shows under the same name. Drawing inspiration from Broadjam's consultation panels and my own personal network, I organized free public educational panels consisting of regional industry professionals teaching attendees how to manage themselves, make their own merchandise, book their own shows, etc. I did various things on the side as well, such as working for Band:Smart Radio, touring with Lords of The Trident, and working for the Madison Area Music Association. I did all of this because I value art, developing new skills, and making a difference in the lives of those who work hard for what they want.
