About Aidan Gibson

Although my interests are all over the place, we live in a world where one must specialize to do meaningful work. I choose Quantum Computing because I naively believe it's where I'll do the most good ...for the state of science, as it could enable vast innovation in a multitude of fields, as opposed to spending my life barely pushing one field forward. It's also at the intersection of academic pursuit and industry; while my heart is in academic pursuit, I love to build, and seeing my work better the world in real time would be a tremendous feeling (being a huge computer geek probably has something to do with it as well). To qualify for the work I want, I will complete a Physics major at Reed College, followed by a CS major from University of Washington or Caltech via Reed's 3-2 program. Following those two degrees, I will earn a PhD related to Quantum Computing, and leap headfirst into the depth of my field, never to retire.show more
