I will help you do the thing*, or stay on track with doing the thing, by checking in with you at a time (or on a schedule) that we establish. For those of us who would do anything to avoid having to tell someone we didn't do the thing, this can be an effective tool in staying productive, avoiding procrastination, and so on. If you met your goal, we'll celebrate! The check-in(s) could happen via text, email, Skype, FaceTime, phone, or any of the million other ways humans can communicate from a distance these days.
I would be happy to trade this service on an ongoing basis with one or two academics. I need to finish my PhD work by March 2017 and get a job, so it would be extremely helpful.
*"The thing" could be anything. Here are some examples off the top of my head: writing goals, cleaning the house, applying for jobs, exercising, making phone calls...
