About Yvonne Muir

Yvonne Muir brings a wide range of experience from the education and training sector. Since February of 2010, Yvonne has been working with Izen Consulting as a labour market researcher, occupational a...nalyst, and education and technical training consultant. In that time, she has worked on projects for the Industry Training Authority, Cheam First Nation, Tsawwassen First Nation, Sts’ailes First Nation, ACCESS, Stó:lō Aboriginal Skills Employment Training, Vancouver Foundation, and Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada. Yvonne started on her career path as a teacher amassing nearly 20 years of classroom experience both locally and internationally. She has taught a variety of programs which directly assist immigrants to Canada, including ELSA and ESP for Engineers, Technicians and Nurses. She has been a certified CLBPT assessor since 2008, establishing, and then managing a language assessment centre in Burnaby. As of October 2013, Yvonne has also become a certified CELPIP test rater. During her years as an instructor she also held administrative positions within the institutes for which she worked. She was integral to the start up of Alexander College, and as the ESL Department Coordinator, she developed a multi-level post-secondary English for Academic Purposes (EAP) curriculum, in addition to creating and implementing a progressive Canadian Newcomers syllabus for adults while at Vancouver Central College (now Brighton College). She has designed training programs for a variety of settlement programs for newcomers to Canada, and has assisted in employment practicum and placement for recent graduates. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and a CELTA from the Bell Educational Trust, Cambridge, UK.
