Tutoring/teaching
25
I have 31 years of experience teaching in classrooms, informal settings, and individual contexts. I've mostly taught adults, especially older adults, but have also worked successfully with children and teens. In university settings, I've taught end-user computer and internet skills, workforce readiness, and fundamental academics such as math and English grammar/mechanics. (I'm omitting anything I haven't taught recently enough to offer confidently now.) I've also taught test prep classes (SAT, GED, NTE, and GRE) in formal classroom settings. Some computer classes and grantwriting workshops were offered in business settings, arranged through the university. And, I've mentored graduate projects in applied urban, medical, and educational anthropology.
In informal contexts, I've worked with homeschooling families, adult literacy and basic academic skills, and individually tailored end-user computer skills.
I've also mentored other teachers, particularly in classroom management, community-based course design, and the needs of adult lesrners.
If you have need of any individualized tutoring or classroom instruction in any of these areas, please let me know. Making quality instruction available to everyone, regardless of background or ability to pay, is a personal passion - so I love the idea of skill bartering as a way to reach any type of learner.
