I'm currently seeking a position where I can apply my knowledge and experience to benefit others through participation in stimulating research, engagement of others with emerging scientific findings t...hrough production of stimulating media, and integration of creative and analytical thought to bring new perspectives to my endeavors. I've spent my academic career pursuing the study of neuroscience, generally because I enjoyed the challenge of combining physics, biology, chemistry, computation, and statistical tools in a unified pursuit, more specifically to: * Contribute to the discovery of treatments particularly in the area of regeneration of the nervous system following trauma. One such project in my doctoral program explored interaction between the nervous and immune systems in regeneration in rodent models of injury. I also performed experiments using rodent survival surgery, tracer injection, immunohistochemical techniques, image analysis, etc. Other projects included probabilistic statistical modeling of neural networks and electrophysiology studies * Explore the development of consciousness, individuality, and intelligence. During my Masters I analyzed the behaviors of infants use of visual information to understand ways in which we establish a theory of mind and differentiate ourselves from others. I also utilized factor analysis to explore how an array of variables contribute to ToM and in an internship studying cognitive executive functions I've also enjoyed extensive travel and immersing in new cultures. I find that placing myself in novel places and situations gives me a new perspective and opens up new avenues of thinking.show more
