Dance Instruction
50
I teach a style of social "fusion" partner dance I call Cocréa. It's a joyous blend of technique from swing, hip-hop, blues and many other dance styles, relationship, mindfulness, and communication practices, and an eclectic aesthetic drawing from tons of our world's music. Get out to the nearest dance floor and go to town! With ANYONE!
I can also offer value in teaching other dances: hip hop, jazz, swing, blues, contemporary, salsa, polka, waltz, and other European Ballroom dances are all within my repertoire.
Working with me carries the added benefit of exploring and finding direct applications to your daily activities, relationships, and spiritual life.
Training & Qualifications
I have been dancing Swing for 17 years, since age 15. I discovered Blues in 2005 and Fusion quickly followed. I am a pioneer in evolving new ways to dance to electronic music, and have been called "the Bruce Lee of dance." Our work has been hailed as "the next evolution of structured dance," and "the bridge between Ballroom and Burning Man."
I began teaching swing and hip hop to teenagers and youth in 2008 in Seattle. I invested time in the growing Fusion scene in Seattle, and was chosen to teach as one of four instructors at the first ever Seattle Fusion Experiment Weekend in 2011. This event grew into the Seattle Fusion Festival at which I have been invited to teach every year. Shortly after going full time as a teacher, I was invited to give a TEDx Talk on "Pioneering the New Renaissance through Movement." See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dciTrZxqbHE For the last 4 years I have supported myself almost entirely by teaching social partner dance to people who want to move better with others.
I have been invited to teach all across the North American continent, and have also taught in Costa Rica and Europe.
