One of the services I offer through my business is called a "Wig S.O.S.!". I offer this service to clients who have wigs that seem to be beyond repair. However, even wigs that resemble fuzzy tumbleweeds can be restored to their original beauty with the right tools, techniques, products, skills, and a good amount of time.
This process is quite different from the other wig maintenance services that I provide because it varies so much from case to case. The technique, products, method, amount of time, labor, and number of energy drinks consumed have never been the same in any of my SOS cases. The basic outline of the process goes something like this:
Initial detangling
First shampoo
Leave-in product applied
Wig air dries
Tears in cap, broken straps, bent combs etc. are replaced and repaired
Second detangling
Second shampoo
Product applied
Air dry
Re-style and set
However there are often other steps that are needed such as:
Re-bonding/ sewing wefts
Added hair
Heat styling
Steaming
Cold sets
Shine reduction
And so much more...
The process can take anywhere from 72 hours to two weeks, so if you're looking to have your hair back in working order by the time Mardi Gras festivities begin, I'd recommend getting a jump on this service ASAP 😁
Training & Qualifications
I run my own business full-time making custom costumes, wigs, cosplay, SFX prosthetics, props, accessories, set pieces, and doing SFX makeup. A majority of my regular wig clients are local drag queens, burlesque performers, and theatre productions.
