Friend for Dementia Patient
I have a mother in law who is agoraphobic, socially anxious, and depressed who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and frontemporal lobe dementia. She's so lonely that she cried when her occupational therapist had to end sessions after an injury because she had recovered so well. It was as if a friend had dumped her.
Despite her obvious loneliness I cannot get her to leave the house for the senior center, as the idea of it terrifies her. I'm hoping someone can come over for half an hour each week or bi-weekly in order to keep her company.
