About Peter Tay

In 2002, Peter founded Gotham Jiu Jitsu, a by appointment service catering to individuals seeking a personalized approach by bringing the benefits of the martial arts directly to their offices, homes,... and private facilities throughout NYC. Peter has been training in the martial arts since the late 1980s at American Jiu Jitsu that stresses a self defense perspective. This style of American Jiu Jitsu is derived from two forms of Jiu Jitsu - Daito-Ryu and Hakko-Ryu. Having attained the rank of black belt in 1994 and 2nd degree black belt in 2004. In 2005, Peter began training at the Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC. Since attaining the rank of black belt under two of the world’s foremost authorities in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, John Danaher and Renzo Gracie. He has medaled in the Featherweight and Open Weight (Absolute) Division of the 2010 Pan American No Gi Championships. Today, Peter combines both aspects of traditional Jiu Jitsu and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu into a injury free workout challenging all of his clients. Peter believes both styles are equally important to the practitioner as it increases confidence and self esteem.show more
