Commedia dell'Arte Lessons
6
I will teach you or a small group of any age about some of the history, context, and modern application of the hilarious and powerful Italian theater technique Commedia dell'Arte. We can see photos of the masks, I will even bring my own as an example. We will explore the physicality of each character, their relationships to each other, and develop each person's own version of a character of their choosing. Depending on what you'd like, we can even develop scenes and practice memorization, as well as improvisation techniques. This lesson can include some basic slapstick (called lazzi in Commedia terms) as well as other physical theater techniques, including nods to Stanislavski and Bogart.
Training & Qualifications
I trained in 2015 at the physical theater program at the Accademia dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy with Commedia and physical theater actors from around the world.
