Ask a female musician
Some comments a male musician never gets :
• "At first I thought it was a recording and you weren't playing for real"
• "... but usually, girls are better, right?"
• "Are you the band's secretary?"
• and so much more...
I play in very different bands at various venues, different city every week.
Only one thing doesn't change: after every show, at least one person from the audience comes to me to inform me that it's rare to see a women play guitar on stage.
Some men say it in an awkward way and try to hit on me. Some say sexist comments without even knowing. But most people are nice ;)
So if you're curious about how it's like to work in the music industry while being a women, ask me and I'll answer from my own knowledge and experience.
