Hi, I’m Martyn and I started my working remote 10 years ago, finding the lifestyle and freedom I was looking for. I was lucky enough that my first real job was working abroad. Though the job wasn’t... perfect, the experience gave me a taste for travel and a preview of an amazing lifestyle. I reluctantly returned home and did what I thought I was supposed to do. I went to university and funnelled out into the corporate world. By this point, I had completely forgotten about my dreams of traveling and found myself trapped in the robotic business world. One evening riding the London Underground’s longest escalator, I noticed the lack of energy surrounding me and ‘I woke up’. Everyone on this conveyor belt, myself included, had mindlessly traded their freedom for a corporate paycheck. I didn’t like that I had put a price on my freedom and I knew that I had to make a change in my life. I spent the next 6 months learning how to build websites for local companies and was enjoying working freelance. I was earning my own money and could work online from home. And then it sparked! I could travel and do this. First, I traveled around England visiting friends and family as a trial. Once I realised this worked, I ventured further into Europe and really saw the potential of working remotely. From there, I traveled to the Middle East, SE Asia, North America, Central America and all the way across Russia. I continued working online everywhere I traveled, calling everything from beaches to trains my office. I had finally found a life that worked for me.show more
