I've been planning events my whole life and have been doing so professionally for the past nine years. What I've learned is that creativity, vision and beauty are all important aspects of a successful... event but they mean absolutely nothing if they're not implemented by an organized logistics and project manager who makes the entire process a success for all involved. My experience is a mix of customer service, high level project management skills and an eye for beauty and detail. My work at Etsy has added an additional layer of whimsy and mindfulness to my repertoire, bringing to light the value of engaging small/local businesses when implementing event strategies and utilizing sustainable methods. Seven years of event planning for the non-profit sector has instilled in me the skills to keep costs low while having a very positive return on investment. Whether communicating a brand identity, raising funds for an important cause, activating a community towards action or planning for a special day, events can be an integral part of our everyday life. Companies connect with their customers on a deeper level through in person events. Lives are changed when a community bands together to raise awareness and funds for a cause that needs their help. Two families become one and start traditions on a lifelong journey at weddings. And sometimes, events are just supposed to be plain old fun.
