Line & Copy Editing Short Stories

15

15 per unit - Virtual OK - Posted Mar 16, 2022

Occasionally I call these two together ‘word-smithing’.

Line editing: A line-by-line look at your writing, focusing on paragraph and sentence structure, word use, etc. with the aim of creating a smooth flow of writing.

Copy editing: A tighter focus on the mechanics of writing, looking for grammar, spelling, and punctation errors, incorrect word uses, logic lapses, and continuity problems.

I will read and edit a short story up to 7.5K words. My preferred genres are science-fiction and fantasy, but I am willing to read almost any genre (please wait on your explicit story until our third or fourth exchange).

Training & Qualifications

I freelance edit and write short stories myself. I have edited published tabletop role playing games as well as written for several. I can be found on scribophile as well: https://www.scribophile.com/authors/laura-briskin-limehouse/

Availability & Preferences

I can answer email any time during the day, read and work on your piece in the evening, and send written feedback.

Trading Preference: I’m flexible, just hit me up!

Bee Hotel construction
Hi all, I would really like to hang a small hotel for solitary bees or other pollinators in my (beginning) garden this year. I just don't have the time, skills or tools to make it myself. I think. ...

About Laura B

I'm a Cataloging Librarian working to make federal documents findable at the FDIC who is excited to help out and meet neighbors. I write, edit, play role-playing games on an actual play podcast (Techn...ical Difficulties Gaming Podcast), play boardgames, and even, sometimes, when the stars align, get to read new books. I'm very good at breaking down tasks and making lists, as well as organizing 'stuff'. Fair warning, I'm owned by a cat and am usually covered in some amount of cat hair/dander. I may also break out in pictures of my kiddo or start talking in nerd. Usually about books, but sometimes RPG systems. The games, not the weapons.show more
