Postpartum Doula Support

35

35 per hour - - Posted Feb 27, 2018

I am a postpartum doula which means I support families with the changes that come with a new infant. This includes emotional and practical support for parents, baby, siblings, and household, that’s individually tailored for each family’s needs. And I have availability to take on new clients!
Contact me to discuss further.

Postpartum doula support is done in the family's home, for a minimum of 2 hour shift. The doula provides non-clinical support, nurturing the family, educating on newborn care, and referring when a specialist may be needed. A doula supports the parents/caretakers in caring for the infant, and how to support each other.

A typical shift will involve checking in with the family to see how everyone is doing, providing emotional support and reassurances and guidance. The doula might make a meal and do light housework to enable the parents to focus on bonding with their baby. If the parents/caretakers need a break, the doula might take over baby care so they can get a shower or a nap. The doula also helps integrate any siblings or pets into the newly expanded family. A doula is also able to make recommendations when additional care is needed, either for the birthparent or the baby. Contact me to talk about what postpartum doula support might look like for your family.
