LESSON - Perfect Pies and More!
Are your pie crusts always rock hard, or too difficult to roll out? Do your pie fillings turn out soupy and hard to serve? Do you attempt to get a beautiful crimped edge only to end up with a shrunken, disheveled mess? I can teach you the basics of successful pie baking, from a no-fail pie crust to the perfect luscious seasonal fillings. Let my professional experience in baking fundamentals and culinary education teach you not just the skills, but an understanding of how to create beautiful and easy pies, gallettes, tarts, crisps and cobblers. Lesson structure will be fit to the needs of the student.
Training & Qualifications
I am a professional chef with a AAAS in Culinary Arts through Wine Country Culinary Institue in Walla Walla. My area of expertise is in baking & pastry and culinary education.
Availability & Preferences
Weekends during the school year and weekdays as well from July 20th-August 19th.
About Kathleen Claymore
I am a culinary arts professional with a AAAS from Wine Country Culinary Institute. Local food culure and culinary education are two of my biggest passions and best skills sets. I also have a small,... happy flock of pampered chickens which means fresh eggs to barter with. My culinary career is focused on teaching in individual, small or larger groups of up to 20, provided you have an appropriate space in which to work, and I regularly high schooled aged students the ins and outs of baking and pastry fundamentals. Some side skills you may want to learn from me are culinary math, recipe standardization, making purchase requisitions, kitchen organization, meal planning, economy of motion and a host of other soft skills that may sound less glorious, but are nonetheless vital if you want to up your cooking game at home or to ease you into the industry. show moreOpen to other proposals
