About Justin Gifford

I grew up in Montana and spent my formative years in poverty with little prospects for the future. As a way out I joined the Army (highly not recommended) and became a combat medic. After serving four... years including a year stint in Iraq I left to study at the university. Being one of the first members of my family to ever attend college I naturally moved in with my parents and took undergraduate classes at the state university in my home town and attended grad school in the same city. I graduated with a Master's of Physician Assistant studies and have worked as a PA for 6 years. If you're not sure what a PA is I'll quickly explain, we do a lot of the stuff a doctor does with a slightly limited scope. This allows doctors to be freed up to more valuable things like surgeries, see more complicated patients, and various other advisory and supervisory duties. My first job was in the OR assisting an Orthopedic Surgeon for 6 months but that was not my cup of tea so I switched departments to Urgent Care. I primarily practiced in the Urgent Care setting while dabbling in Primary Care for 5 years before making the leap to hospital medicine here in Seattle WA. I am a Democratic Socialist and am excited to use my skills to help my friends and neighbors. I am planning of getting my MBA through distance learning starting this summer. I love film, especially French New Wave and Italian Neorealism, but most Art House films suit my fancy. I am involved in political activism and love serving my community.show more
