I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. My main research interests are NLP in narrative-centered writing support environments and discourse analysis.

Prior to this time, I have worked for over 8 years in Information Technology roles as a consultant in a variety of industries, including investment banking, pharmaceutical, municipal government and health insurance. Also, during my studies I worked part-time for IBM as a developer in the WebSphere/DataPower integration group, as well as for a summer developing semantic web applications. My primary focus has been on J2EE web applications but has in recent years focused on service oriented uWSGI/Gunicorn frameworks.

My career goal is to leverage my natural language processing, data mining and machine learning skills, as well as my combined research and industry experience, to tie applied research in the development of next-generation cognitive systems.
